Luz to Sagres via Pedralva

Distance: 119km

Start the cycle from either our Luz villa or Espiche Townhouses, this route takes you inland to Odiaxere. Where the shorter route has less ascents, it allows you to take in the local scenery as you wind through the villages. However the elongated route takes you past pretty hamlets, meadows and the beautiful Bravuda reservoir, meeting the coast in Carrapateira and onto the village of Pedralva. From there are two fairly short routes onto Sagres, both past the lighthouse at Cabo Sao Vicente and Sagres Fortress. The longer route offers on and off road tracks passing rich holm oak forest, both trails give great views of the Sierra de Monchique as you pass through Vila do Bispo. Then head out across the Vicenente peninsula to Cabo Sao Vicente, from here follow the coast road back to Sagres. Looking for a refuel before the cycle back, there are plently of restaurants/beach bars with local dishes and refreshing drinks or take a dip in the blue sea. Head inland to begin the journey back, along the Ecovia weaving through the coastal villages of Salema, Burgau and on to Luz.
